About the Role
We are on the lookout for a dedicated DEI Restorative Trainer to become an integral part of our dynamic team. As a pivotal entry-level position, this role is tailored for those who are keen to put their academic knowledge into impactful practice, driving change in the realms of diversity, equity, inclusion, and restorative practices.
The primary responsibility of the DEI Restorative Trainer is to craft and facilitate training sessions that resonate with diverse audiences. Drawing upon academic backgrounds in fields such as conflict resolution, psychology, sociology, or ethnic studies, the individual will adeptly tailor each session, ensuring content is both relevant and engaging. While the role is centered on training, it also provides opportunities to delve into restorative circle facilitations, helping participants navigate complex discussions and achieve mutual understanding.
Although the position doesn't require extensive prior experience in the field, any hands-on knowledge in conflict resolution, mediation, or restorative circles will be considered a valuable asset. Our ideal candidate is someone with a Bachelor's degree in related disciplines, who can effectively demonstrate nuanced understandings of pertinent topics, and is passionate about creating inclusive spaces for dialogue and learning.

Bachelor’s Degree in fields related to Peace and Conflict Studies, Ethnic Studies, Sociology, Restorative Justice, Psychology or similar fields.
Familiarity with Google Suite, Gmail, and basic operating systems like Mac OS 10, Android, and iOS.
- **Physical Requirements:** Ability to lift 20-40 lbs and possess a valid driver's license. Should have a vehicle or access to one for transporting training materials (1-2 boxes).
Entry-level position; however, any experience in administrative or educational roles that involve multitasking would be advantageous.
Ability to occasionally travel within the San Francisco Bay Area. Any travel outside the region would be infrequent and primarily for training facilitation (travel expenses covered by CircleUp).
Comfort with varied work hours, sometimes starting early or ending late, but always ensuring a work-life balance.
Some exposure to training facilitation or participation in educational settings, especially in front of groups.
Specialized Experience (preferred but not mandatory)
Basic conflict resolution or mediation skills.
Familiarity with restorative practices/justice.
Experience in or exposure to teaching settings.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Strong listening, empathy, and communication skills.
Ability to express needs clearly.
Comfort in engaging in challenging conversations to address problems.

Familiarity with basic design tools like Adobe InDesign or Photoshop.
Knowledge of Asana or similar project management tools.
Proficiency in a second language, especially Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin, Vietnamese, or American Sign Language.
Previous participation in restorative practices or conflict resolution trainings.

Set up physical and online training environments, ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are ready and functional.
Greet participants warmly as they enter both live and online training sessions, fostering an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.
Facilitate both live and online DEI and restorative practices training sessions, ensuring active participation and understanding.
Break down physical training setups post-session, ensuring all equipment is stored properly and venues are left tidy.
Review and refine training materials to ensure they are current and effective.
After training sessions, collect feedback, reflect on delivery, and identify areas for refinement.
Support CircleUp Education's mission by consistently aligning daily activities with overarching objectives.
Handle essential administrative tasks, including calls and preparing for upcoming sessions.
Collaborate with peers, ensuring training approaches are synchronized and optimized.
Conclude the day by updating the project management platform, setting reminders, and gearing up for forthcoming training sessions.
Assess and revise training materials, leveraging insights and experiences from the week's sessions.
Participate in team meetings, discussing training efficacy and contemplating enhancements.
Plan for the upcoming week, aligning with the overall training calendar and client requirements.
Discuss weekly progress and feedback with peers, focusing on continuous improvement.
Update training tools and resources, making sure they remain current and relevant.
Stay updated on CircleUp's digital resources, ensuring accessibility and relevance for training attendees.
Engage in internal learning sessions, continuously refining DEI and restorative practice expertise.

Collaborate with co-trainers to finalize the upcoming month's training calendar.
